Dog Journal 17 - All Mine

Yes! Finally my friend brought home a new toy. This one is definitely for me too, I can already smell the fresh fluffies within and a squeaker that works I hope. But she's taking so long messing with it instead of just giving it right too me.

I don't know why the taggies have to be cut off before I play with it. Those are my favorite thing to nibble on when I'm bored. But my friend never listens, she just snips them off every time. And it takes her like forever to do it too, almost like she's teasing me with it.

My buddy is sitting patiently too, probably because he thinks this one is going to be his. But he should know by now that all the toys are mine. Yes, they're all mine to collect. You might think of all the toys I have that my collection would be complete, but it's not. I'm still missing so many of the ones I saw at the toy store last time, like the squirrellie squeaker and the little piggy that oinks when you fetch it. So many cool toys and none of them are for my buddy unless I say it's okay. Or when we're playing the games too. Then it's okay. And sometimes when he's relaxing on the sofa, he likes to chew on the fluffy carrot, which is cool.

But this toy is going to be so awesome, I just know it. It's the one with the wings and the long neck and the big tail that is perfect for whapping against everything. I'm sure it'll make an excellent tugging toy for the games as well, especially with so many spots to grab on and really wrestle to see who the toughest pupper is.

Finally the tags had come off and the toy was about to be given to me. Yes, I waited so long for this one and...and? She gave it right to my buddy? What is this? No! I have to have it! And that's why we are chasing each other all around the room right now. I guess it sort of started with me a little upset...just a little. But it's pretty fun now.

If there's one thing that I can do, it's chase in a race. But my buddy is actually pretty good at running away like the scaredy-dog he is. Every corner he looks back to eye me before putting on a little more speed. That's okay though, I've got the speed too. And that toy belongs to me!

My buddy is no slow-poke, even for an older doggy that always has something clever to say about a thing. So it's a tough job catching him, and then I still have to get my toy back. It's not for him, I just know it. I will fix this error though, eventually. Oh yes, when he finally drops it, I'll take it and add it to my pile of toys where it'll be until my collection is complete.
