Dog Journal 22 - Missing You

Alrighty, I'm dog-tired of my friend always leaving me and going off to have fun somewhere else. He calls it the "work" but I don't believe him. He's always tired when he gets back home and then we don't get to play and have fun. So today, I'm going to make sure my pal stays home with me and we have fun.

Since I need him to stay with me, I'm gonna have to think up some ways to ensure he can't just up and leave. So there's no way is he going to escape my sight until I come up with a plan. This meant I had to follow him everywhere, even into the bathroom to make sure he wasn't trying to escape. He did resist me a little bit, but he normally doesn't want to argue too much in the mornings, so I get my way pretty easily.

While he was taking the bath, I knew I had time to move some things around. So I hid his keys and moved one of his sneakers under the sofa. It'll take him a while to find those for sure. Well, that is if my other friend doesn't tell on me or something.

My buddy was watching all my plotting and planning from his spot on the rug. He'd already moved his old tail over there since we'd all gotten out of bed and he likes to watch from that spot so he can see everything going on around him. Hopefully he'll keep his barks to himself and not woof a ruff about what I'm doing.

After the sneaker was tucked away, I returned to the bathroom door to find that my friend was already getting dressed so he could do the leaving. I knew it, he never stays home with us. I have to think of some more stuff to slow him down so he can't go.

What else will he need? I know, he's gotta have his bag. But that's super heavy to move on my own. Maybe my buddy will do the helps? Naw, he won't want to and I don't even know where we could hide it. What if I hide his hat and glasses, I know for sure he won't leave without those. He can't be seen without his glasses, at least that's what I've heard.

The problem is that those are kept high up on the counter, where it's a little harder for me to get to. I've messed with them before, that's how I know how important they are to him. But if this is the only way to keep him from leaving today, then I've gotta chance it.

After navigating the chairs around, I managed to get his hat and take off with it. He was still busy getting ready so I've got time. Or at least I thought I did. As soon as I'd whipped around the corner, he was coming down the hallway. I had no other choice but to throw the hat at my buddy who was relaxing on the rug. This should buy me some more time. I still needed the glasses!

There wasn't any more that could be done though. My buddy jumped up and barked the alert. He'd told on me again, just like he always does. Fortunately I didn't catch any trouble for the hat since my pal was too busy searching for his keys.

I did get him to stay home a little longer today. It took a while before he'd found the keys and his sneaker tucked under with the dusty bunnies. Maybe I'll have better luck tomorrow. I just need to come up with a fool-proof plan to get him to stay with me. I mean, I know how to "stay" and "sit" and all the tricks...why can't he learn it too?
