Rocky Adventure - I Had The Same Dream
I raced through the grassy fields in search of my shadow. The barking kept getting closer and closer, letting me know I was on the right trail. Our house was somewhere over there, the big top was visible despite the tall foliage, letting me know that the old man was somewhere close by as well. It was an assuring feeling to know such things.
Then suddenly my shadow did finally bust through the big leaves of the pup-kin plants, pouncing on me and dancing all around. He was super excited to find out that he wasn't alone, licking my face and snorting in my ears.
"You gotta show me where the treasure is!" I told him.
"Awe Yip!" my puppy friend hopped up in the air and spun around to lead the way.
There were so many obstacles here though. We bounded over big branches and huge watermelons. There was even a funny looking bug that danced around one of the pathways. If it weren't for our powerfully united barking skills, we might not have made it past.
But we did. We made it through all the tribulation of the overgrown yard. Perhaps the old man will take care of that sometime soon, especially with this grass so tall. At least it's nice and soft grass, almost as nice and padded as the hallway carpet. And the flowers were so big and tasty, smelling as delicious as pup-cakes with a pat on the head.
Then the distraction appeared. I knew my young friend couldn't resist chasing the bunnies. What puppy could? He chased after the one, then the other, not ever really catching up to them regardless of how fast we went.
"Remember!" I barked, "The treasure!"
"Bun-bunny!"
The purpose of our trip through the yard was put on hold. The bunny rabbits had become the priority. Or perhaps they had sneaked off with some of the treasure? I do not know. But my shadow is supposed to know, and I have no choice but to follow him to find it.
Unfortunately, the bunnies were not only fast, but they could fly. After all the burst of super speed that we could manage, we were hot on their fluffy little tails and that's when they pulled a new trick out of their hat. They bounced away, high up in the air and bounded far over the tall grassy flowers that had bloomed up.
Bubbles appeared to float up, allowing the bunnies to ride upon them and escape our grasp. Surely they had made off with the treasure's location or else why would their escape be so amazing?
My shadow stopped and nibbled his toes in a moment of thought before asking me how we were going to catch them. The only thing I could think of is that we too were going to have to fly. How? You might have asked yourself this, so I will tell you.
The trick here is to run super fast and jump at the right moment so you keep going with all the speed you can get. And if you wag your tail just right, you keep on going like the birdies do. It's actually pretty simple if you just hang your tongue out right.
The top of this hill was nice and short and perfect for getting speed without obstacle. I told my shadow to go first, and to stop nibbling at his tail so he could focus on the hunt for the treasure. After he'd had enough nibbling, he bounced down the hill at full speed and up onto the next. I chased after him, my paws already floating just above the ground by the time I got to the bottom.
At the top of the next hill I finally got the wind in my ears and jumped with all my might. Suddenly I was running through the air, the grassy field was far below me as I wagged my tail around as fast as I could to get more speed. My friend was fluttering around like a dizzy butterfly but he got the spirit.
The bunnies that rode upon bubbles were floating along in the breeze, the pup-kin flowers down below them spitting out even more bubbles to obscure our path. This was going to be a fantastic chase. I wagged my tail and kicked my paws through the air to go faster. My shadow bounced through the air around me, dancing like he was a bubble, which might work to confuse the bunnies when we do get there.
I was the first one through the wall of bubbles, popping them and snapping through the trap in perfect technique. When the bunnies tried to float away, I popped their bubbles too, but more came up to catch them. This was a little tougher than I'd thought.
But then one of the bunnies, the one with the little crown on his head must have thought that my shadow was a bubble and dropped down on him. I could see the little paws grip my friend's puppy fur tight and he yipped to "giddy-up!" as he floated around in circular fashion upon my little pal's head.
"We got one!" I barked. "Take us to the treasures!"
The bunny turned to me surprised that I thought he'd been caught. He tugged my friend's ears to the right and steered himself towards the biggest of trees. I had no choice but to follow, my tail wagging hard to the left to get me in pursuit. My friend was wagging his tail all around right in front of me, leading the way like a dizzy fly, but swiftly none the less.
The tree was our landing spot, down below under the big branch were the squirrels played. Of course they demanded a toll to dance below the kingdom of their tree, but my shadow ended up dropping whapping them with his tail as he circled his way down to the ground. The rodents scrambled around angrily as we invaded their spot and began to dig, the bunny with the little crown demanding that we dig faster.
"Ah yesssh," the bunny chittered excitedly once we'd found something. "I've found them at last."
We'd cleared out the biggest treasure cove of carrots I'd ever seen. So many that they were piling up out of the hole we'd made, flowing out in an eruption of delicious carrots. There was more than enough here to play with and share with the squirrels who had stopped their onslaught of angry chittering to snack. Even the bunnies had their share, floating off with carrot-filled balloons off into the pup-kin patch fields to make little treasure spots of their own.
I looked at my shadow and he looked at me very pleased that he'd done it. He'd found the treasure and led me right to it. Indeed it was all true, and I would never have been able to do it alone. Oh yes, that's why it's good to have a friend with you always, even when it's in your dreams.
