Dog Journal 10 - April Showers

It was such a fun day to play in the park. The sun was sunny and warm and the wind was nice and cool and there were plenty of peoples to play with too. I even got to dig up some cool bugs near the pond but then the duckies came over and started snacking on them before I could find out what sort of buggies they were.

Everything was perfect for such a grand day out... until the wind blew hard and the sun went and hid itself from us. Things started getting chilly pretty fast, so that's when my friend and I decided it was best that we get back home. Unfortunately, we weren't able to escape the crazy weather before it really started to get wet.

The rain started as as sort of a mist, but the drops quickly began to pelt like a squirrel chunking acorns in the fall. My pal was splashing along with me trailing and getting all my fur completely soaked to the tail. This was getting out of control and I really couldn't even see where we were going either.

When it became apparent to my friend that I was having the trouble keeping up, she scooped me into her arms and ran the rest of the way. At least it was warm being held by my friend, a whole lot better than the cold puddles we were racing through.

We finally got back home where we both shook ourselves off really good. There were no complaints as I fluffed up my coat and splashed water all over the rug. I guess since my friend was sort of doing the same, she really couldn't say much to me about it.

Finally after much shaking and a few drags around the carpet, my coat still moist but fluffy and drying out fairly quickly. My pal was way ahead of me, she'd completely changed her attire and was drying out her long head fur now. We could relax at last, safe and sound inside and away from the wind and rain. How about a nice seat on the sofa next to my friend.

That's when I was informed that I was now the stinky doggy. That's absolutely absurd! I'm sure it's just because the carpet I used to dry myself was the smelly source, but now she's convinced that I need the bath. Oh come on! We just escaped the cold wet outdoors and now I have to get cold and wet all over again?

I guess when it rains, it really does pour.
