Dog Journal 25 - Bestest Buddies

Yeah! We got to go to the park and see all the things and smell all the stuff. I'd already found squirrels to bark with, we got to bark about all sorts of stuff like stay in your own tree and leave the pecans alone and don't wave your tail at me like that. Yes, it was a lot of fun and much running around.

The day was so much cooler than before, the sun didn't cook my nose and ears and the wind was just right for tickling my nose. The leaves were already down on the ground and ready for chasing, giving me even more reasons to race around. I love the snippid scents of them as they crunch under my paws and it makes me sound like I'm going way faster than I really am.

My old buddy never seems as excited about such things, more like just exploring and walking from spot to spot during his investigations. He likes to be the detective doggy, finding clues and stuff like that. Too complex of a game for me, I just like to race around and do the play stuff.

Then I met the biggest bird I've ever seen in my whole doggy life. Normally the birdies are tweeting up in the tree or bouncing around on the ground as they nibble on worms and buggies and such. These ones were just waddling around the water area, honking like big vroom-vroom cars or something. Even the big duckies were tiny in their shadow, making me a little nervous to even go near them.

I tried to woof at one to see if I could find out what they were and what they were doing here. But the big one flapped his wings at me and made a sound like the snake does. After another bark of greeting, the big bird began chasing me and honking. I really wanted to get out of it's way, but no matter how much I zigzagged, this crazy goosy was right on my tail.

It wasn't until I ran to my good old buddy that the big bird realized there were two of us and left me alone. Yeah, my old buddy is really big and grumpy enough to where nobody would want to be on his bad side. And we might get into our occasional arguments, but he's MY buddy and he won't let anyone but him pick on his little buddy. That is, after all, what friends are for.
