Dante Adventure - Room-mutts
Skipper won't let go of the blankets despite Gracie's demands. He was on a roll today, trying to make his fort in the sofa. He'd been working on it all morning, but it wasn't until now that Grace had figured out what he'd been doing.
It started early this morning, he'd begun making his pile of stuff. It was just his toys at first, but then other things were collected. This was possibly due to me telling him to get off my bed. Yes, it was my bed and I was napping and having a nice comfy time when he started bouncing and hopping and dancing all over me. Bed is for the naps, not the playtime. So I booted him off and now he's gone crazy with his plans.
He claimed he was his own doggy now and nobody was going to stop him. He was gonna have his own spot and no one can be in his den but him. And apparently, he chose the sofa to lay claim to. The toys began to be stuffed under the cushions along with some of the towels and his little bed. It probably was pretty comfy, and the best part was that he wasn't jumping on the bed anymore.
When I didn't seem to mind his little plot, he began to remove the pillows from my bed and move them over to his own stash. I guess that was fine, I wasn't using them. But I was using the blanket, and that's where we are right now. Fighting over the blanket.
"Gimme," Skipper growled as he tugged back and forth.
Gracie tugged back, pulling Skipper right down the hallway and back into the bedroom. After shaking the puppy off, she threw the blanket on me and chased Skipper out of the room. By that time, she'd discovered his den and was ready to reclaim her spot. I guess Skipper is just tough out of luck now, but if he'd just settle down in his own spot instead of trying to claim someone else's spot, he'd be alright.
I crawled out from under the hot blankets and went to see what all the commotion was about. Gracie was tossing Skipper's toys all over the floor, putting his bed back in it's right spot and flopping herself down in the sofa to make sure Skipper couldn't reclaim it. Which he tried to do.
It began as nuzzling and some lite digging and pawing. But when Gracie didn't budge, he began his hopping and bouncing. It's hard to fend off the bouncing, he always manages to step on tails and bellies, ensuring that he gets you to move at least a little bit.
Gracie fought hard though, she wasn't about to give in to the rascal's demands. She pushed and wrestled until Skipper was pinned under her back. And that's where he's stuck out now. Still is too. It's been quite a while of quiet time since then, well except for Skipper's occasional whines to be released. But that's what he gets for being such a bug. He could have had it nice and easy today, just relaxing in his own bed and maybe enjoying a snack or two. But now he's held fast in the spot he wanted so bad...and now he doesn't want it at all. Maybe he'll think twice next time before he jumps on the bed. Maybe... but not likely.
